another username… another password… seriously???

Personally, OAuth is the best thing ever invented. I have enough problems bringing my own lunch on a daily basis, let alone remembering my username and password for:

Hotmail, Facebook, Twitter, Work login etc etc…

From a developer’s point of view, I don’t need to manage another username & password system.
If you unfamiliar with the technology as a developer, you should really consider it.

There is the usual debate about personal privacy with using external sources like Facebook. Manage your system and your authentication mechanism correctly and your user will love you. :)

my favourite drink…

When I was little, it was Lemon Tea.

When I was in primary school, it was Passion fruit milk.

When I was in high school, it was strawberry milk.

When I was in university, it was Passiona.

Now that I’m working, it’s a Strong Latte.

Run it like a 100m race

If there was ever a time when you need to set yourself a goal, set it like a 100m race.

Why ? Because you can see it.

I think setting goal is a habit. Once you get used to setting  goals and ACHIEVING THEM, you can then start adding the hurdles and the puddles. This way, you are not disappointed with a marathon of work but yet still challenging yourself.

Remember, run it like a 100m race.

Year of Farn Tie Sway

Rewinding back in year 2000 when I was “studying” for my HSC, my mum said to me one day that the Year of the Dog is going to be a bad year, known in Chinese as “Farn Tie Sway”.

Being a half-religious woman who reads the multiple magazines and books on Feng Shui, including the oh-so-famous “Blind Chan” – Seriously that’s what they call him, I had no choice but to accept this fate.

Fast forward to today. Without going through the book of Blind Chan, I am certain that I am once again in the year of “Farn Tie Sway”. In the past two weeks, I’ve had three near-injury accidents:

  • Crazy man driving a WRX on Victoria pulling into my lane without looking at his blind spot. My scooter was a ruler away from his car
  • Law obeying driver running the red as I was waiting to turn right. Luckily I didn’t step on the gas and I knew something was up. The driver saw me as he was driving 80 kmph through the intersection and swirled to his left thinking I was going to hit him.
  • As I was crossing the road at Crows Nest. I realised the car stopped particularly far from me whilst I was crossing the road. Next thing I heard was the sound of the engine and a woman was reverse parking into a spot right where I was crossing. I had to literally smack my hand on the Volvo until the woman realised I was there.

I’m not a religious man but this one is too close to call.

Safe driving and riding to everyone and especially to ones who are the Year of the Dog.

PS. My mother never got back to me when I asked her how people were going to do well when EVERYONE in Year 12 were Year of the Dog. Maybe she’s waiting for Blind Chan to get back to her on that.

New Tie

A new layout.

Maybe another theme to boost my posting.

Let’s see how effective this is.

the time is now…

There comes a time in life, or many times in life, where you are going around and around the roundabouts.

Non stop.

Around and around and around.

The occasional swerving brings excitements.

But still, you are going around, around and around.

It’s time I look for a new career.
